Kross Studio and Harry Potter come together for the first time in a spellbinding collaboration, celebrating the wizarding world through an exceptional timepiece where every detail tells an enchanting story.
At the Heart of a Quidditch Match The Harry Potter Central Floating Tourbillon watch brings a Quidditch match to life, the legendary sport of the wizarding school, where a seeker from each house competes to catch the Golden Snitch.
The four characters, subtly attached to the tourbillon, complete a full rotation above the watch movement every minute. Seemingly floating mid-air, Harry Potter for Gryffindor, Cho Chang for Ravenclaw, Cedric Diggory for Hufflepuff, and Draco Malfoy for Slytherin engage in a fierce battle, flying on their brooms in pursuit of the Snitch.
Each character, measuring 2.79mm in height and 6.09mm in length, is crafted in 18-karat gold, meticulously engraved and hand-painted.
This craftsmanship reveals the finest details of their faces and Quidditch uniforms, down to the broomstick. This dynamic scene, integrated into the central floating tourbillon, can be admired from every angle under a sapphire crystal dome, revealing an astonishing richness of detail.
The watch case’s timeless yet resolutely modern aesthetic perfectly aligns with the bold spirit and understated elegance of Harry Potter. Like something straight out of a spellbook, its ingenious winding system, centered on the back of the 42mm case, seems like the result of a magical formula, capable of captivating even the most erudite wizard.
At the heart of this exclusive timepiece lies the KS 7’006 central floating tourbillon movement, a hand-wound marvel composed of 229 meticulously designed, decorated, and assembled components by the artisans of Kross Studio’s manufacture. The watch’s primary functions—winding, energy storage, regulation, and display—are all cleverly arranged at the center.
This unique design allows the barrel to occupy nearly the entire movement surface, providing an impressive 120-hour power reserve while maintaining exceptional chronometric performance. The tourbillon, its balance wheel, and fixed seconds wheel are elevated above the movement and hands, floating over the barrel.
Another breakthrough of the KS 7’006 movement is its peripheral hour display mechanism, achieved through a planetary gear system mounted on two ball bearings, ensuring an unobstructed view of the tourbillon. The Harry Potter Central Floating Tourbillon hands are gold-plated and filled with black Superluminova®.
The Harry Potter Central Tourbillon components are decorated in line with traditional watchmaking standards. The barrel bridge is a testament to this craftsmanship, featuring hand-beveled angles, stretched edges, perlage on recesses, and Geneva stripes adorning its top surface. This exceptional level of finishing, executed entirely in-house, is made possible by Kross Studio’s dedicated decoration department.
The Harry Potter Central Floating Tourbillon dial consists of two distinct parts. The flange, crafted in 18K gold, features an opaline sandblasted finish, revealing a golden minute track. The second section of the dial, also in 18K gold, is grained in black with gold Roman numerals, a tribute to the Hogwarts clock tower.
Winding the watch and setting the time are effortlessly achieved using a finger to rotate the flat "D-ring crown" on the case back and the "Time Set" push button, strategically positioned at 3 o'clock along the watch's edge. This system not only maintains design symmetry and enhances comfort compared to a traditional crown, but it also facilitates quicker winding, adding a practical touch to the overall experience.
Alongside the Harry Potter Central Floating Tourbillon, an equally mesmerizing art piece takes shape: a music box playing three parts of the legendary Hedwig’s Theme. True to its commitment to exceptional craftsmanship, Kross Studio collaborated with the renowned manufacture REUGE to bring this extraordinary piece to life.
Powered entirely by a mechanical movement, the music box produces sound through the vibration of blades lifted by the cylinder pins, with over 1,200 pins on the cylinder and a 72-note clavier. Each movement is unique, as every music box is carefully assembled by hand, ensuring a one-of-a-kind experience. A true technical and artistic masterpiece, showcasing the exceptional savoir-faire of both REUGE and Kross Studio.
